A weekly meme where you simply go to Booking Through Thursday, and make a post answering the question. It's a discussion meme on lit related matters.
This Week's question:
So … you’re halfway through a book and you’re hating it. It’s boring. It’s trite. It’s badly written. But … you’ve invested all this time to reading the first half.
What do you do? Read the second half? Just to finish out the story? Find out what happens?
Or, cut your losses and dump the second half?
It depends really...it is very rare that I give up on a book...although I have, just recently-2 weeks ago. I gave it my all. Had it with me at all times but I had to cut my losses and move one. Turns out the book I moved on to is an amazing read; so I felt I made the right choice.
So my official answer would be if the situation (me + time+book) permits. If I'm in a general positive mood- I'll do my best to read till the end- purely to find out how the story goes. If the book just won't let me then I generally won't be bothered and that's it = EPIC FAIL. I'd stop! Then I Google the ending so I know how it all pans out.
Harsh I know but life's too short to waste time on a book that leaves me with nothing! I want to be moved and swamped into another world. Not swamped into another world then half way through wishing I bought a ticket for the other one...
If it's an advanced copy or sent by an author for a review...I'd read it all the way through regardless!

Why thank you!
Yeah, mood is definitely a factor. My answer is at The Crowded Leaf.
I dump it!
:D
BTT: Half way
Being in a good mood won't help me as I'm sure the book will put me in a bad mood or in a reading slump.

I tend to give books I've asked to review from start to finish before I pass judgement. Books I've bought that I don't enjoy aren't so lucky lol.
